Well, this horror suspense film has all the usual “Bad Child from Hell” aspects. In the Western countries most will see it as just an entertaining piece of fiction, but what about here in Korea? Could Korean people see it as a really good idea AGAINST Domestic Adoption?
The Korean War Baby would like to hear from Adoptees both in other countries and living in-country right here in Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK) for your views:
“Will this movie, ‘Orphan’ being released in Seoul this August have an impact on Koreans concerning Adoption?” Send a comment, please.
I doubt if people would be that shallow, but then again, I have never been intimate with many Koreans. It is a western film so perhaps it wouldn't have that impact!
ReplyDeleteShallow? I can give you 100 to 1 odds that 75 percent of Koreans will receive this movie as "truth" and it will reinforce their bad images of adoption. There have been many tv and films made in Korea that also have negative protrayals of adoptees.
ReplyDeleteNo, this film will be very influential. Remember the riots last year against American Meat? People were meeting for weeks in 'candlelight vigils', school children crying "Please don't feed me US beef or I will die from Mad Cow!" Recent polls show that only 25% of Koreans buy USA Prime compared to 45% of Australian Beef. Australia uses "Clean and Safe" as their motto shamelessly.
Korea's Cyberspace is controlled by the leftist media, bunch of commie sympathizers who actually think it would be better to be under Communism. LOL
